The firm, coarse open‑cell foam maximises cooling and reduces heat buildup. Its high heat resistance allows longer working times on hard paint. Fine crosshatched cuts serve multiple functions: they retain more polish, expand during use to increase surface area and abrasion—similar to wool fibres—while maintaining the cooling and durability advantages of open‑cell foam. These cuts also help channel removed clearcoat away from the surface, improving finish quality and extending pad life.
