The white open‑cell cutting layer features fine crosshatched cuts that retain more compound and expand during use, increasing surface area and abrasion—similar to wool fibres—while maintaining the cooling efficiency and durability of open‑cell foam. These cuts also help channel removed clearcoat away from the surface, improving finish quality and allowing longer, more stable work sessions.

The red closed‑cell thermal layer adds structural stability under heat and isolates the cutting surface from the backing plate and machine. This improves consistency, reduces heat transfer, and supports longer polishing cycles with a more uniform finish.
